Privacy Policy

Who We Are
Brightscale Labs Limited operates fitmetriclab.com and its fitness calculators. Registered in England and Wales, Company No. 16990009. Registered office: 8 Flay Field, Tithebarn, Exeter, England, EX1 3YA.
For privacy requests (access, correction, or deletion of your data), contact us at contact@brightscalelabs.com with "Privacy Request" in the subject line.
How Our Tools Work
All calculators run entirely in your browser. There is no sign-up. We do not send your inputs (weight, height, body fat, training metrics, heart-rate values, lifts, pace, intake) to our servers. Exports and results are created on your device and stored wherever you choose to save them.
What We Collect
We do not run our own analytics, identifiers, or trackers on the site today. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, may process IP addresses and basic device/browser data as part of delivering pages, providing security, and serving content. This processing is handled by Cloudflare under their own privacy policy — we do not have access to this data.
Cookies and identifiers currently set:
- Strictly necessary: Cloudflare security and DDoS-protection cookies (
__cf_bm,cf_clearance,_cfuvid). - Functional (local storage on your device): a single key,
fitmetriclab-theme, recording light or dark mode. - Analytics and advertising: not currently enabled. If we add them later, a consent banner will appear and they will only load after you accept.
Calculator Inputs and Local Storage
Inputs you type into a calculator are processed in your browser to compute a
result. We do not currently persist any calculator inputs to local storage
and never transmit them. The only local-storage key we set today is
fitmetriclab-theme, which records whether you have chosen light
or dark mode. This stays on your device. You can clear it at
any time from your browser settings.
What we never collect:
- Health records, medical diagnoses, or clinical information.
- Account credentials — there are no accounts.
- Payment information — the site is free and has no payment surface.
- Continuous biometric tracking — calculators are single-shot computations on inputs you supply.
How We Use Information
- Provide and secure the site (hosting, CDN, edge security via Cloudflare).
- Preserve your light/dark theme preference on your device (local storage only).
- If and when analytics or advertising are added: measure site performance and serve ads, only after you accept a consent banner.
Cookies and Consent
No analytics or advertising cookies are currently set on the site. If we introduce them, you will be shown a consent banner on your first visit and optional cookies will remain off until you accept. See the Cookie Policy for a full breakdown of every cookie that is set today, and every cookie that could be set in future.
Legal Basis (UK/EU)
- Consent: optional cookies/identifiers for ads and analytics — only if you give consent. You can withdraw at any time.
- Legitimate interests: site security, load balancing, preventing abuse, and limited usage metrics where allowed without cookies.
- Contract/necessity: provide the site and content you request.
- Legal obligations: respond to lawful requests and comply with applicable laws.
Your Rights
Under UK GDPR and EU GDPR, you have the right to:
- Withdraw consent for optional cookies at any time.
- Access any personal data we hold about you.
- Object to processing, including for advertising purposes.
- Portability — receive your data in a structured format where applicable.
- Erasure — request deletion of any personal data.
- Lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or with your local EU supervisory authority.
Data Sharing
- Hosting: Cloudflare (CDN, DDoS protection, edge caching) — always on.
- Analytics: Google Analytics (anonymised IP) — not currently enabled. Would only run with your consent.
- Advertising: Google AdSense — not currently enabled. Would only run with your consent.
We do not sell your data. See the Google Privacy & Terms — Partner Sites page for how Google handles data from sites that use its services.
International Transfers
Our processors (Cloudflare, Google) operate globally. Where data is transferred outside the UK/EEA, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent mechanisms required by UK and EU data protection law.
Retention
Local storage on your device persists until you clear it. Cloudflare processes connection metadata under its own retention policy — we do not have access to it. We retain support correspondence (email enquiries) for up to 24 months for record-keeping and follow-up. If analytics or advertising are introduced, consent records will be retained for 12 months from when consent is given.
Children
FitMetricLab is a general-audience educational reference and is not directed at children under 16. Some calculators (for example body composition or BMR) accept ages below 16, but the tool itself does not collect personal information from any user. Parents and guardians who believe a child has interacted with the site in a way that warrants attention can contact us at the address above.
Changes to This Policy
We update this page when practices change. Material changes will be highlighted at the top of the page for a period of time. The "Last updated" date above always reflects the current version.
